Thousands of companies must comply annually with 60+ federal EPA, OSHA, and DOT compliance laws/regulations, plus Ohio EPA laws, all of which carry stiff enforcement penalties starting at $55,000 per day. Compliance projects are produced by existing depts. of Environmental Engineering, OSHA Education Specialists, and Environmental Science/Technology professionals. Primary benefits: Risk Management Against Enforcement Penalties, Defensible Documentation, Turn-Key Compliance, and Flat-Rate Fee Structure (to avoid exorbitant costs thru “billable hours”).


  • Onsite OSHA/GHS Employee Training with Vanguard’s clientele to encompass various OSHA Standards, i.e., HazCom Training, Machine-Specific Lockout/Tagout, HAZWOPER Training, Forklift Training/Certification, Indoor Air Quality Monitoring, Noise Monitoring, DOT HazMat Employee Training, Bloodborne Pathogens, Confined Space Certification, Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standard, Facility EHS Auditing, and more.
  • Secondary Focus: Environmental Management projects include Stormwater Runoff Permitting, RCRA HazWaste, SPCC Plans, and employee training for these environmental mandates.
  • Experience with Air Permitting, Toxic Release Inventory (Form R), Emissions Inventory Reporting (desirable);
  • Technical Writing Skills to develop policy manuals and site-specific written plans for a diverse clientele within the manufacturing sector and industry.
  • Must ensure site-specific compliance with each client’s compliance requirements through Vanguard’s systems, methods, and intellectual properties;
  • Collaborate with other OSHA/Engineering Staff for Compliance Excellence company-wide.
  • Moderate travel within U.S. (One- or Two-day runouts on most weeks).


  • Strong presentation skills and experience providing training to large groups of varying backgrounds
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Ability to meet deadlines and department expectations.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Strong verbal, written and organizational skills.
  • Ability to solve problems in a high stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and develop new programs, policies and procedures to meet department needs


  • Bachelor’s Degree: Occupation Safety & Health &/or Environmental Management, (or related degree with commensurate experience). Professional certifications are a definite advantage (i.e., CSP, ISO 45001 Auditor (formerly 18001), CHMM, REM, etc.). Credentials are critical for meeting the demands of our government contracts through GSA.
  • 4 or more years of experience performing Environmental, Health and Safety projects for clients operating in the U.S. manufacturing or industrial sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state OSHA/EPA/DOT regulations, United Nations’ Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for onsite OSHA training programs.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS 2015 for Canadian Industry, as Vanguard is now penetrating Canada with EMS Online Canada!
  • Infectious Personality with passion for OSHA/EPA subject matter for an entertaining training experience; Highly motivated, attention to detail, and ability to solve technical and analytical problems while interacting with clients in plain-English, personable style.
  • Strong oral/written skills with confidence to speak and train in workplace.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills a definite plus.
